Hello, friends! Guess what? I’m two years old now. That’s basically a grown-up dog in human years. I’ve got wisdom, life experience, and (let’s be honest) still the occasional case of the zoomies.
Mom and Dad keep saying I’ve changed.
“He’s more vocal!” they say.
“He’s rolling around like a goofball!”
Little do they know… this is just me, living my best grown-up dog life.
When they first adopted me from the shelter, I was just a 10-month-old pup. Sure, I was already the size of a full-grown Anatolian Shepherd, but inside I was shy, quiet, and still figuring out my place. I even walked calmly on the leash with Dad (oh, how times have changed).
Now? Let me tell you about my upgrades:
Rolling champion – When I’m happy, I flop onto the kitchen floor and “run” on my side. The cool wood is so nice on a hot day. Sometimes I do the full-back roll in the living room, complete with my own sound effects.
Vocal rockstar – My sister Nova the Husky was supposed to be the talker, but I’ve found my voice. Deep, howl-like “words” for walks, greetings, and the occasional “hurry up!”
Neighborhood security chief – If someone walks by, or a delivery person shows up, I announce my presence loud and proud. My deep bark and large size say, “Keep moving, buddy.”
If you’ve got a 10-month-old pup, here’s what might be in store for you as they grow up:
- Energy starts to level out (but zoomies never disappear).
- Stamina increases for walks, hikes, and playtime.
- Large breeds like me may keep growing for another year or more.
- Impulse control improves, but testing boundaries still occasionally happens.
- Chewing is now for fun or boredom, not teething.
- Bladder control is solid (yay, fewer accidents!).
- Play style matures; they may get more picky about dog and human friends.
- Protective instincts might kick in, hello, watchdog mode.
- Daily routines become the law.
- Confidence grows, with fewer startle moments.
- Bonds with family deepen big time.
- Guarding toys, food, or favorite humans may pop up.
So yes, I bark more, roll more, and guard more these days—but underneath all this fluff, I’m still a pup at heart, and the same big softie Mom and Dad fell in love with.
Your two-year-old-grown-up-boy,
